What makes Cincinnati such a unique city compared to its midwestern counterparts? For the past 200 years, Cincinnati has developed a distinctive culture that has resulted in some noteworthy iconography ranging anywhere from flying pigs to the Italianate architecture sprinkled throughout the city. 1628 Ltd. wants to ask artists what imagery pops up in their heads when they think about Cincinnati and which parts of the city do they want to amplify. This work can focus on the unmistakable imagery associated with Cincinnati or glimpse into cultural aspects that perhaps only a local would recognize. We want artists to show us what Cincinnati means to them. 

Deadline to submit is September 22nd. Final decision will be made by October 7th.

Medium: 1628 Ltd. is accepting all mediums: painting/drawing, photography, mixed media, 3D works, etc.

Scale:  Our gallery has multiple large walls that would be ideal for larger art installations. Submissions of large-format works or collections are encouraged. Generally, individual works submitted need to be minimally 11” x 14” for consideration. 

Eligibility: Established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply with up to 4 works per artist. Works should promote productivity and inspiration for our members, be appropriate for a professional workplace setting, be sturdy, durable, and ready to hang upon delivery (artwork should be ready to be hung with the appropriate hardware). 

Entry fee: There is no entry fee for submissions.

Artist Commission: 1628 Ltd. is committed to supporting the local art community. Artists will receive 75% of the retail sale price while the remaining 25% commission is retained by 1628 Ltd. All pricing of exhibited artwork will be determined by the artist and published in the exhibition catalog.

Liability: 1628 Ltd. will ensure all work up to the listed retail price, and provides a secure facility that is not open to the general public. Professional installation and de-installation are provided. 

Photography rights: Copyright and reproduction rights are reserved by the artist. 1628 Ltd. reserves permission to use images of the works for marketing and record-keeping purposes.
