1628 is excited to announce the call to artists for our Spring 2021 art exhibition: Cocoon: Fibers of Home. Each year our Spring art exhibition is dedicated to showcasing female-identifying artists. For this exhibition we are looking for fiber-based, female-identifying artists whose work encapsulates the feeling of home.

Artists gain inspiration from many different avenues, one of the most predominant being their surroundings. In a time where most of us are spending more time than ever at home, it is only natural for inspiration to be drawn from the domestic surroundings of our living spaces.

Home is a place of comfort, and it is arguably your most personal space. We are looking to include fiber-based art in this show that is centered around these intimate spaces of home, specifically with a focus on the following:

-Created objects that you would find in a home

-Created objects made from recycled materials of objects found in a home

-Pieces that conceptually and/or visually represent home
